Project Manager

Chelsea, Canada Landlab Inc Full time

**Background**

Almost 25 years ago, Sean McAdam purchased 50 acres of land behind his house in an effort to control the sort of development that would happen there. He quickly discovered that the development industry and municipal governments tend to approach questions of urban planning and architectural design as though they are trying to make life better for cars and garbage trucks, rather than for people and their environment. Landlab was founded to change that.

Landlab designs and builds one-of-a-kind communities that change how people live for the better. From challenging engineers on road widths to building public parks where there were none, we take great pride in seeing our vision become a reality. We like to think we’re changing the world, one thoughtfully-designed neighbourhood at a time.

**Who We Are**

Our growing team is made up of a small, close-knit group that takes on ambitious projects and is dedicated to the creation of meaningful places. We’re driven individuals who highly value our work culture and we are excited about coming into work everyday. These are our guiding principles:

- Better Together_

When we say our team feels like a family, we mean it. We have just as much fun chatting about our weekends over lunch as we do pouring over new house plans. We face challenges together.
- Expect the Unexpected_

Sometimes you hit bumps in the road—or get knocked right off course and we relish those moments. Change keeps us on our toes and offers opportunities for creativity, innovation, and learning.
- Step Up_

We don’t sit on the bench and wait to be called into play. We jump at the opportunity to take ownership of new projects, or take on a task that needs a little more love. We believe in quality and we take pride in our work.
- Work Hard, Play Hard_

Building neighbourhoods from the ground up is no small feat. We believe that work should provide added meaning to life while recognizing that finding a healthy work-life balance is key. We believe that hard work adds to that balance but must always be recognized, rewarded, and offset with encouragement for personal and family time as well as the pursuit of personal goals.

**What You’ll Do**

We’re looking for an experienced project manager with proven organizational skills, an extremely thorough eye for detail, and the ability to think critically and strategically. You’ll be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organization and timeline. You’re confident, eager to learn, and happy to take ownership of the project lifecycle. You might not have experience in our industry, but you have skills you know will come in handy when managing complex projects.

**Responsibilities**
- Determine and define project scope and objectives;
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules;
- Plan and designate project resources (including scheduling of subcontractors);
- Ensure projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards, and make adjustments as needed;
- Ensure quality assurance processes are interwoven throughout the delivery phases;
- Prepare status reports to ensure Landlab’s senior management team has a clear understanding of project activities, milestones, deliverable, risks, and the overall health of various projects;
- Proactively address any project issues with appropriate members of the management team.

**Requirements**:

- Familiarity with project management principles and practices;
- At least 3 years of experience in a project management or similar role;
- Demonstrated experience utilizing project management tools, e.g.: scheduling, budget tracking, document management;
- Ability to tackle complex problem resolution, coordination, and management of competing/conflicting goals of various teams/stakeholders;
- An ability to step back and look at the big picture, and a keen eye for detail;
- Strong written and verbal skills;
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
- A valid driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle

**Nice-To-Have**

Experience in the construction, engineering, or architecture/planning fields is highly valued. We are, however, open to a range of experience. If you do not have experience in these industries let us know how your past experience would be an asset.
