The Financial Analyst, Reporting & Tax Controls manages and oversees financial reporting, taxation, and auditing processes for Ornge’s entities to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with regulatory requirements, and informed decision-making by the executive team.

Key Accountabilities:

- Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, including variance and key performance indicators (KPI) analyses, to ensure accurate and comprehensive financial reporting.
- Develops and maintains financial dashboards for executive review to provide insights and facilitate informed decision-making.
- Generates annual unconsolidated financial statements and notes disclosures to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Assists in preparing quarterly Finance & Audit Committee (FAC) materials and various financial reports for the Ministry of Health (MOH) to ensure adherence to the Performance Agreement (PA).
- Prepares annual audited consolidated financial statements and note disclosure.
- Manages all taxation activities, including the preparation of annual taxation working papers and draft returns for CRA and external tax professionals, to ensure compliance and minimize tax risks.
- Acts as the primary liaison for CRA auditors and tax professionals including preparing necessary documents and maintaining CRA online records.
- Prepares various taxation slips and items, such as T4As, T2202, taxable benefit analysis, and donation receipts.
- Coordinates external financial statement audits including preparing necessary working papers and explanations for accounting methods to ensure timely completion of audit requests.
- Conducts in-house internal audits according to the Finance Internal Audit Plan including identifying risks, making recommendations, and reporting results to Management.
- Monitors the implementation status of internal audit recommendations by preparing periodic progress reports to ensure continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Develops and updates Finance and Control internal policies, accounting standard interpretations, and internal control process narratives/flowcharts to ensure compliance and improve efficiency.
- Contributes to internal control improvement initiatives by identifying risks and recommending solutions to strengthen financial governance.
- Conducts research on complex accounting and taxation transactions, standards, and contracts and creates detailed memos and analysis to provide guidance and ensure compliance.
- Performs key month-end processes including intercompany balance reconciliation and consolidation journal entries, to ensure accurate financial records.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business or related discipline.
- 5-6 years of experience.
- CPA, CA designation
- Experience with internal auditing - financial reporting and internal controls.
- Research experience with GAAP/PSAS/ASPE/IFRS and taxation.
- Broader Public Sector Act (BPSA) experience is preferred.
