The Farm in Stouffville is a private, residential, mental health and addiction treatment centre located in Stouffville, Ontario. We’re currently looking for an overnight addiction counsellor.

This position requires an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and self-directed professional who will work closely with clients in providing timely and effective mental health and addiction treatment services.

- Implement goal-oriented care plans;
- Identify potential recovery triggers and teach coping mechanisms;
- Provide crisis intervention, supportive counselling and advocacy as required;
- Create, maintain, and secure all appropriate documentation/ record keeping related to a patient’s treatment;
- Monitor and ensure the safety, security and general welfare of clients and facility during shift;
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with care team regarding client care;
- Clear understanding of and ability to demonstrate professional ethics, boundaries and judgement.
- **Qualifications**:_
- **Addiction Counselling Diploma or equivalent education;**:

- **Minimum one year of experience working with substance abuse and mental health issues, residential experience is an asset;**:

- _Certification in Addiction Counselling (CCAC) preferred_
- _Membership with Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) preferred_
- Significant knowledge of a variety of counselling modalities including CBT, mindfulness and relapse prevention;
- Experience with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills/techniques;
- Knowledge of community resources and provincial addiction system;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
- Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification;
- **Ability to work shift work, overnights and weekends;**:

- A successful Vulnerable Sector Check, as per agency policy and procedures.

**Salary**: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Night shift

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Addictions/Mental Health: 1 year (preferred)
