**Who We Are**

The Science Technical Centre is comprised of experts within 3 units: the Electronics, Machine and Glassblowing Shops. They use state of the art equipment and machinery to provide technical support to research, teaching and administration to repair, design and build electromechanical devices. It is also a champion of sustainability and the circular economy - they give equipment a second life by re-using, refurbishing and re-purposing technology.

**About the Role**

The Research Machinist designs and fabricates custom equipment based on verbal descriptions, samples, prototypes, or drawings using a variety of specialized tools and equipment to carry out precision work; tests finished products for performance and safety; operates very specialized, unusual and sophisticated equipment in a technical machine shop for research and must regularly service, repair, clean and upgrade this equipment.
