The Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) works in coordination with other IRCC-funded and other community programs. RAP provides newcomers with initial settlement support to ensure they are able to settle in the city. This includes services such as receiving the client at the airport, setting up & support at the temporary accommodation, providing information, orientation, doing needs assessment & referrals, among others.

**Job Summary**

Under the direction of the Reception House Director, and working closely with the program coordinators, the **After Hours and Weekend - RAP Counsellor** is responsible for the after hours and weekend overall effective operations of the assigned Temporary-Housing location, as well as delivering RAP Program activities including documentation and data entry, all within a flexible, shift-based schedule. The RAP Counselor’s adaptable approach will contribute significantly to our multidisciplinary team, addressing immediate client needs and facilitating their integration into the community. The RAP Counsellor will perform other duties, as the organization and the program manager require.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all residents at Temporary Sites.
- Ensure effective operations of the Reception House building and other sites during after hours and weekends, including performing night rounds; maintain a detailed log of activities and observations, among others.
- Ensure all residents, visitors, and volunteers respect the rules and regulations of the premises.
- Support clients with basic life skills and respond to any immediate needs or situations.
- Engage with clients, building trust and promoting a peaceful community environment.
- Deliver RAP activities such as welcoming new arrivals, conduct initial needs assessments, and orientation sessions, prepare documentation, etc.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours.
- Collaborate with daytime staff to ensure a seamless transition between shifts.
- Carry out accurate and timely data entry tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in nighttime operations or similar after-hours roles is preferred.
- Good knowledge of the Settlement sector and work with refugees
- Experience assessing client needs to provide appropriate service and referrals.
- Experience facilitating groups and workshops.
- Skilled at de-escalation, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Fluency in English is required; French and other language (Arabic, Dari, Pashto, or Spanish) is an asset.
- Active listening and capacity to communicate empathetically.
- Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule.
