**CHEAKAMUS CENTRE**

Established in 1969, Cheakamus Centre is an overnight environmental education facility located on 165 ha of ecological reserve near Squamish, BC. The Centre is located on the traditional territories of the Chi'yakmesh people of

Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation in the heart of the newly designated Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere

Region.

Cheakamus Centre is owned by the North Vancouver School District and offers a wide variety of experiential environmental education programs to children and adults from the Sea to Sky corridor, Metro Vancouver, and beyond.

The educational program offerings include youth leadership, recreation, and other hands-on experiences intended to instill in young learners a sense of respect and appreciation for the natural world.

Cheakamus Centre also hosts visitors from around the globe for special events, weddings, retreats, conferences, camps, and workshops.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**OVERVIEW**

The primary role of the Banquet Server is the person who performs serving duties during meal services, including setting up for events/meal services in any of the designated dining halls or meeting spaces, while also replenishing the buffet or other type of meal service, serving guests, and cleaning up after the event. The Banquet Server will work with our private rentals (such as corporate retreats, camps, meetings, weddings etc.) and school groups.

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide all Cheakamus Centre guests with excellent customer service.
- Set up, provide service, and take-down/clean up banquet room as requested by the supervisor and as noted in the Internal Event Order.
- Ensure dietary and accessibility requirements and requests of guests are met with a positive attitude.
- Ensure proper communication and understanding with FOH and BOH team to ensure seamless food and beverage service.

- Work effectively independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Work varied hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends
- Work in a fast-paced environment, while striving to offer high quality service to all guests
- Friendly, positive and enthusiastic demeanor
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong initiative, with the ability to problem solve in the absence of supervisor
- Valid Serving It Right Certificate
- Access to reliable means of travel

Cheakamus Centre, Brackendale, BC (near Squamish)

**COMPENSATION**

$20.00/hour

**JOB TERM**

Full time, Part-time, flexible hours (multiple positions)
