**Position summary**

Within the general framework of Facility Services policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Facility Services BSW II Supervisor, the Weekend Watch Lead Hand is responsible for assisting the Facility Services BSW II Supervisor in the provision of the BSW II services. In addition to carrying out the regular duties of the BSW II position, the BSW II Lead has additional areas of responsibility including providing guidance, leadership and co-ordination to the assigned team.

**The hours of work are the following**:

- Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 3pm

**Duties**

This position will respond to maintenance calls to perform first level assessment reported issues
- Inspects mechanical rooms for leaks, unusual noises and any concerns
- Changes lightbulbs as required
- Garbage removal
- Responsible for ensuring that the buildings are presentable and safe between routine cleaning maintenance activities
- Performs a variety of custodial duties at various locations such as public circulation spaces, classrooms, laboratories, lounges, offices, kitchens, washrooms, stairwells and hallways
- Picks up loose debris and garbage, emptying and relining of trash bins
- Performs snow removal when required
- Reports incidence of vandalism, security concerns and safety issues to appropriate personnel
- Assists building occupants, students and visitors
- Checking flood equipment on a regular basis
- Clean mechanical rooms on a regular basis
- Fill out daily log books E.g., Mechanical room checks, driving the car and recording the mileage, door locking and unlocking
- Responsible for locking and unlocking doors of all assigned buildings
- Other Duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum Grade 10
- An in-depth knowledge of building operational and mechanical systems is required
- Working knowledge of the English language; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Building Service Worker Certificate is considered an asset
- High degree of Initiative and Versatility
- Computer Skills (MS Office, Google Workspace)
- WHMIS, safety, fire extinguisher and first aid training is considered an asset
