Fortran Steel Contracting is a Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals Fabricator. We are looking to hire an experienced Junior Estimator to join our team.

The role of the Junior Estimator is to support the Senior Estimator in the preparation of tenders for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Review and understand contract drawings & specifications to determine full scope of work.
- Assist in the preparation & organization of bid documents.
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and clear quantity take-offs.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing information in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records related to cost estimates from suppliers & subcontractors.
- Monitor upcoming projects for addendums & information that may alter the scope of work.
- Attend project meetings and job showings as required.
- Respond to requests for quotations from potential clients.
- Coordinate with walk-in clients & smaller scope projects from estimate to delivery.
- Perform additional assignments as required.

**Skills Required**:

- Ability to read and interpret Structural & Architectural drawing and specifications accurately.
- Exceptional time management, as well as the ability to prioritize & execute multiple tasks quickly.
- Adaptable with dynamic workloads and changing priorities.
- Thrives well in a busy, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Understanding and knowledge of steel erection and installation.
- Working knowledge of OBC, CISC, CWB, & CSA Standards and Specifications
- Working knowledge of construction materials & procedures.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Must be able to take initiative, work independently and work well within a team.
- A valid driver’s license is required, as facility is not accessible by public transportation.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.

**Experience Required**:

- Minimum of one year of work experience in structural steel estimating or related construction.
- Experience in the structural steel industry is an asset.

**Education Required**:

- Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma (or equivalent) is an asset.

**Language Required**:

- Fluent in English (Oral, Reading & Writing)
- French (Oral, Reading & Writing) is an asset

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
