Your Opportunity:
The Orthoptist I performs advanced-level eye function measurements and ancillary tests to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases. As an important member of the ophthalmic team working primarily with pediatric ophthalmologists and neuro ophthalmologists, the Orthoptist is responsible for ensuring that patients are triaged appropriately and seen in a timely fashion. They will participate in educational rounds and in-services, and maintain good medical knowledge in ocular anatomy, pharmacology, diseases, and management, including current available treatments and clinical trials. They must also understand infection control in terms of proper sterilization and disinfection.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an orthoptic course from an accredited institution. Active membership with the Canadian Orthoptic Council (COC).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Current member of the Canadian Orthoptic Council is required. Orthoptic course from an accredited institution required. Minimum of three years’ experience as an Orthoptist in a pediatric clinic setting preferred. Certification as an Orthoptist from the Canadian Orthoptic Council is required. Additional training and certification as an Ophthalmic Medical Technologist is preferred.
