Job Summary:
**Duties**:
Reporting to the Manager of Revenue and Taxation, the **Receptionist/Cashier** is responsible for providing reception services to the Municipal Office. The responsibilities include performing a variety of cashier and administrative services in support of the day-to-day operations of the Corporation and its services to the public.

Reception

1. Greets visitors to the office.

2. Responds to telephone and personal enquiries by providing factually accurate information, or directing the customer to appropriate staff/office; and,

3. Answers all incoming calls and directs them to the appropriate party.

Administrative and Clerical Services

2. Maintains municipal office decor, seasonal décor, bulletin boards, information racks, tidiness of municipal office public spaces and supplies room.

3. Receives, sorts, and circulates mail, packages, and faxes; prepares outgoing courier packages.

4. Maintains a current inventory of supplies; researches and orders selected equipment upon direction or request

Other Duties

1. Provides cashier functions of municipality relating to taxation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utilities, and parking tickets, Stockey Centre, Arena, licences, permits, facility rentals etc. and issues receipts.

2. Reconciles daily cash account; prepares daily bank deposits.

3. Supports the accounts receivable, taxation and utility receivable functions for general inquiries.

4. Supports the Accounts Receivable and Taxation Clerk and the Utilities Billing & Collections Clerk in processing payments.

5. Supports the Accounts Receivable and Taxation Clerk by inputting taxation reports from bank mortgage tax payments.

6. Performs such other related duties within the general parameters of this job description, as may reasonably be requested by the Manager of Revenue & Taxation, which may be amended from time to time.

7. Is the Town’s representative for the Parry Sound Muskoka Purchasing Group and attends (virtual or in-person) quarterly purchasing group meetings.

8. Performs the general opening and closing procedures for the municipal office.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
1. Completion of one (1) year post secondary school

2. Good knowledge, training and experience in municipal accounting procedures, and excellent cash handling skills.

3. Good organizational skills, initiative, and ability to perform tasks without close supervision.

4. Working knowledge of office practice.

6. Basic knowledge of the legislation, policies and programs that affect municipal government.

7. Ability to work within the pressure of front-line public view, attentive to both accuracy and detail.

8. Excellent interpersonal skills, including an appreciation of the need for tact, confidentiality, and a positive, cheerful, and informed approach with the public.

9. Thorough and current knowledge of the Town of Parry Sound and the services of the Corporation.

10. Must be bondable.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $25.16-$27.65 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
