The Supervisor, Standards directly supervises and leads a staff of technical and clerical personnel, and manages all aspects of ATCO Gas & Pipelines internal controlled documents including specifications, procedures, design guides, programs, etc. They are responsible for the quality and consistency of ATCO Gas & Pipelines controlled documents. The Supervisor, Standards is responsible for ensuring adequate and appropriate stakeholder engagement between the various operating groups (Operations, Engineering, Construction, etc.) when developing or modifying existing controlled documents, and works to determine the needs of the business, drive improvements and improve overall (internal) customer satisfaction.

**Responsibilities**:

- _Stakeholder Relations and Customer Focus _
- Manage expectations and stakeholder relations. Prepare plans, approaches and strategies for working with Operations, Engineering and other multi-disciplinary groups to develop, update, document and implement new processes, policies and procedures as required.
- Implement annual action plans for Standards based on identified business needs.
- Participate in, and advocate for Standards, on internal and/or external committees as required.
- _Continuous Improvement _
- Spearhead major initiatives related to standards and document control, and scope special projects/initiatives.
- Coordinate the identification and recruitment of members, and documentation of scope and timing for ad-hoc project teams. Lead ad-hoc teams as required, report on status/progress, and drive timely delivery of results.
- Drive initiatives related to controlled documentation quality and consistency across the business.
- _Maintain the Core _
- Manage standards libraries, including the maintenance of historic records related to controlled documents, and seek out, evaluate, and implement improvements. Manage external standards subscription (TechStreet) and evaluate value to organization on an ongoing basis.
- _Monitor Performance _
- Develop, track, manage and report KPIs to monitor department performance, including preparation of performance metrics for Executive Leadership Team.
- _Lead the team _
- Define and forecast workload and identify staffing needs; recruit, hire and train staff as required to meet action plan tasks and ongoing capital and O&M projects. Provide day to day direction and coaching, complete annual performance reviews and support development planning for all team members, in the spirit of associated collective agreements, as applicable.

**Qualifications**:

- Technical Writing certificate (or similar) required.
- 5+ years of broad-based, high-level knowledge of document control best practices and technical writing.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or related field is an asset.
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum or Environmental discipline is an asset.
- Completion of recognized supervisory/leadership training is an asset.
- Knowledge/experience of the natural gas industry and pipeline operations, planning, and project management, is considered an asset.
- An understanding of the business model and economics of a regulated utility, GRA process and basic business acumen considered an asset. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 based Management Systems considered an asset.
- Familiarity with economic evaluation techniques and risk assessment techniques considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Pipeline Act and Regulations as well as CSA Z662 and other relevant standards is considered an asset.
- Resource management experience, and the ability to apply, communicate and implement principles of project teams, team building, scope, timing and cost management to projects in the standards and controlled documents area.
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder consultation setting expectations, conflict resolution, development and execution of communication plans, and management of change processes.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills **.**:

- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently to develop work plans and forecast resource requirements. Ability to coach, lead and mentor a group of senior and junior personnel in controlled document best practices.
