**Summary**

Under the authority and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Advisor will provide thorough and concise advice on a variety of topics that relate to the business to the CEO and leadership to help guide NWAC’s overall decision-making processes and directions.

Scope

The Corporate Advisor will be conducting research, including legal research, and analytical studies to provide guidance to management in the development and implementation of program/ project delivery strategies.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide support and advice to the CEO on various corporate, policy/legal issues.
- Assist with the effective working of community, national and international projects and provide support through every step of the process.
- Conduct research, including legal research, and analytical studies to provide guidance to management in the development and implementation of program/ project delivery strategies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements.
- Identify risks along with propose alternative structures to reduce risks involved in prospective transactions/decisions.
- Provide thorough and concise advice on a variety of topics that relate to the business to the CEO to help guide NWAC’s overall decision-making processes and directions.
- Assist teams in analyzing business requirements and execute same.
- Organize meetings between NWAC and Government Officials on topics related to legislation, policies, and programs.
- Advise management regarding legislative, policy and operational matters to support project delivery, and provides policy and legislative interpretation to management.
- Plan, develop, and implement strategic policy work plans for NWAC policies and projects on a series of policy priorities impacting Indigenous communities.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in various priority areas to support policy development within NWAC, other advocacy organizations, and government bodies to best advocate for Indigenous women.

**Education and Experience**
- Law graduate with Legal consulting background.
- Culturally appropriate communications skills and ability to work with many personality types;
- Minimum of 7-9 years’ experience working in legal domain with preference for experience working with NGOs, Indigenous governments or organizations, or equity-deserving groups;
- Experience building and expanding partnerships, especially with Indigenous peoples; and
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, especially using Microsoft Office suite. Experience using AirTable software is an asset.

The employee must demonstrate the following skills:

- Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and internationally, their cultures, histories and traditions;
- Knowledge of key issues impacting Indigenous women and girls in Canada and internationally; and
- Some understanding of social policy (including violence prevention, employment and gender equality).
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English (fluency in French is a strong asset);
- Strong networking, relationship-building and public speaking skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to minimize and resolve disputes diplomatically and expediently.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure;
- Ability to facilitate meetings.
