**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Maintenance & Turnaround Manager, the Superintendent - Turnaround is accountable for facility integration and coordination to effectively manage all planning and execution activities required to implement successful turnarounds. The Turnaround Superintendent is responsible for development, stewardship and ensuring the turnaround systems are in place and operating successfully, enabling the turnaround group to operate and meet the corporate and business unit goals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops, updates and provides governance of the Turnaround Manual;
- Ensures the NWR Turnaround Procedures are adhered to and that relevant and structured audit system is implemented;
- Supports the development of cost control/reporting systems prior to turnaround execution;
- Manages, coordinates, and optimizes the infrastructure requirements for all turnarounds and major outages;
- Leads the integration of turnaround and major outages within the NWR organization;
- Develops and maintains turnaround reporting system including but not limited to, stewardship reporting, and performance reporting;
- Leads a team of 4-6 full time personal, expanded to 15-25 during outages and major turnarounds;
- Supports the development of the turnaround and major outage 5-year plan;
- Leads safety and improvement initiatives by personal example;
- In consultation with key NWR personnel, develops EHS strategies and prepares specific Turnaround safety plans;
- Implements the Business Plan for all Turnarounds that identify and deliver business improvement initiatives;
- Develops and reports improvement opportunities to the NWR Leadership team;
- Prepares detailed Turnaround execution plans that defines the organization, roles/responsibilities, scope, targets, contracting strategy and critical activities;
- Supports the development of the Turnaround KPI’s and documents the performance mechanism;
- Ensures all third-party providers are adequately engaged for all Turnaround related activities;
- Reviews and analyze manpower productivity and cost reports, forecast and progress reports and recommend changes that will improve the performance of the Turnaround;
- Ensures all relevant Quality documentation is prepared and completed in accordance with NWR procedures; develops methods to correct deficiencies identified in quality system audits;
- Prepares final Turnaround report on completion and learnings are captured;
- Prepares supporting information as required for Management in relation to disputes and participate in the dispute resolution process;
- Ensures that all employees in the workplace (including those of Subcontractors) comply with the safety requirements;
- Acts on any non-conformance and implements corrective action, learn from errors and put in place actions to avoid reoccurrence.

**Requirements**:

- Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR’s Core Competencies to drive results and culture;
- 10 years supervisory experience leading a multi-disciplined team in a Turnaround or Project environment;
- Strong refinery operations background;
- Demonstrated track record in successful Turnaround or project execution;
- Comprehensive knowledge of turnaround delivery methods, practice and legislation;
- Proven people management skills;
- Excellent communication, observation, and analytical skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the responsibilities to complete the task and work in a high-pressure environment.
