**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the Laboratory and Product Manager is responsible for managing laboratory operations and overseeing the development and production of new products. This role involves managing staff, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that all laboratory procedures and protocols are safely followed. Additionally, the manager is responsible for ensuring that new products meet quality and safety standards, are cost-effective, and meet customer needs.

**Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the efforts of the Research and Development, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Production, Procurement, and Customer Service departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members, ensuring paint orders on new and existing products are delivered to customers on time and as per company standards
- Collaborate with other departments and organizations to facilitate research and development projects, and to share resources and expertise
- Define and manage product development budgets and timelines, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Lead the timelines for product development and execute the product development strategies and roadmaps
- Plan, develop, and oversee the execution of paint development projects to meet the Company's goals and objectives
- Coordinate the product development lifecycle, from cradle to market launch, including product design, development, testing, and market launch readiness
- Ensure the availability of material and human resources to fulfill the deadline demands
- Conduct market research on the emerging and existing paint technologies, materials and processes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the industry
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales to ensure product development aligns with company goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and partners
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and that laboratory materials and supplies are properly stored and managed
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to boost the efficiency of the product development process, and ensure compliance with regulations and industry best practices
- Maintain a safe and health laboratory environment by enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety among laboratory staff
- Develop and implement testing protocols and standards to ensure the quality and performance of our paint products
- Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, sales, and production to ensure the successful launch and market positioning of new paint products
- Communicate feedback from new and existing customers to the technical team with the goal of continuous product improvement

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering/Paints Technology or related field
- Master's degree or PhD. in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering preferred
- Experience of 3 years or more in a paint manufacturing/technology or related field
- Experience of 3 years or more in a managerial or leadership position with direct supervision of employees
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and coordination skills
