Taiga Building Products is looking for a Lumber Buyer in Burnaby, BC. This is a permanent, full time position. As a key member of the buying team, the Lumber Buyer will report to the Lumber Supply Manager. We are looking for a competitive, entrepreneurial, assertive and professional team player to join our team.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Analyze high level market trends and take effective market positions to drive profits
- Establish, grow and maintain close and effective relationships with key suppliers
- Penetrate the market through existing contacts, assertively and quickly develop new contacts
- Inform company operations of prevailing market conditions and competitive activity in various regions.
- Create alignment throughout Taiga, make effective market calls and manage inventory positioning
- Drive Lumber performance throughout Taiga operations
- Provide customer service, including product information and after-sales service (shipping information/tally revisions/claim processing)
- Prepare various internal paperwork and reports
- Attend periodic meetings and trade shows as required

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Extremely competitive, a visionary in their select market and area of expertise.
- Preferred - Lumber trading and/or buying experience or inventory management, a combination of education and or experience
- Proven record delivering superior customer service
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Able to meet and exceed performance targets
- Inventory - Ability to manage inventory turnover and aged inventory.
- Full Cycle Accountability - Responsible for the whole cycle of sales including claims and inventory management.
- Considerable experience making profit-based decisions based on the weight of all factors.
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make critical decision in high pressure situations.
- Professional and polished in appearance.
