We are looking for a Technical Advisor, Cyber Security Awareness to support our Security Branch. The Technical Advisor, Cyber Security Awareness would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
As a member of the NRC Security Branch you will be actively involved in providing Cyber security advice to a variety of advisory committees, clients and CBI’s. You will provide IT security guidance, and make recommendations to internal clients to ensure compliance with federal standards, directives and NRC’s policies.
You will plan, develop and implement cybersecurity training & awareness events and initiatives.
**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
Degree from a recognized university in computer science, engineering, information technology, or another specialty relevant to the position, as well as specialized further education and training in the security domain.
**Equivalency**
A diploma from a recognized college or post-secondary institute in an IT related field combined with significant experience (at least 5 years) will also be considered.

**Experience**:
- Significant experience in delivering presentations, briefings, or training sessions in both official languages to small and large audiences.
- Significant experience in the IT field, specifically in roles related to cyber security within a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar environment.
- Significant experience in writing various types of documentation such as reports, briefing notes, technical guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Significant experience working with cyber security related policies, directives, standards and guidelines used in the Government of Canada.
- Experience working with industry best practices related to system hardening, cyber security controls, and baseline configurations.
- Experience in IT Project management.
- Significant - 2 to 6 years
**Assets but not required**:
- Certifications: CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM, Security+ or equivalent;
- Knowledge and experience with information security standards, best practices, and regulations, such as ITSG33, ISO 27001/2, NIST CSF/RMF, CIS, SANS, COBIT, etc.

- Strong knowledge of methods and techniques associated with the overall field of training including program design, development and delivery and evaluation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of methods, techniques and practices relating to security programs and protocols and current trends in education/training.
- Strong knowledge in IT policies, standards, processes and procedures, Network architecture, Identity and access management, Vulnerability management, Penetration testing, Data encryption, Configuration management and Physical security.
- Knowledge of the theories and principles of adult education.
- Knowledge of internal funding mechanisms including the formulation of proposals for shared funding in collaboration with other agencies.
- General knowledge of the increasing government-led profile and imperatives impacting on security issues and action, and the significance to the Departmental Security Office (DSO) in being able to demonstrate effective leadership in security awareness programs.
- Knowledge of project management principles.

**Compensation**:
**Salary under review**
From $89,548 to $112,660 per annum.
In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $212 per month.
