The work consists of assisting the inspector in carrying out his/her duties.

**EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED**

Inspects projects whose files have been set aside by the inspector in order to confirm their compliance with the approved permits:

- Closes the aforementioned files if they are compliant with the issued permits;
- Obtains all relevant documentation (photographs, samples, etc.) in order to discuss with the division head or inspector any changes that he/she has observed.

Makes a final visit to the premises to check that all work has been done in accordance with the by-laws and the orders of the inspector and the Planning Advisory Committee.

Under the inspector’s supervision, maintains a file for each of his/her inspections, including in it all information required to support the claim of non-compliance with laws and regulations that he/she is responsible for applying. To do this, the junior inspector compiles all relevant documentation (photographs, samples, etc.) in order to discuss any changes that he/she notes with the division head or inspector.

As necessary, answers information requests from citizens at the service counter and on the telephone.

Using instruments and technical measurements, intervenes in cases involving noise pollution caused by mechanical equipment, prepares a report and submits it to the inspector, who will, if appropriate, order that changes be made to correct the situation.

Assists the inspector with:

- Monitoring activities carried out on Town territory to ensure they comply with all laws and regulations;
- Developing requirements intended to bring premises where business is being conducted into compliance.

Explains to the owner why an inspection file cannot be closed.

Takes photographs as required, prepares a report on his/her activities and provides statistical data.

At the request of the inspector or division head and on an as-needed basis, contacts other municipal departments and the bodies concerned to facilitate the settling of files or preparation of complaints and recommendations.

As required, uses various types of office equipment and the appropriate software to perform certain job-related tasks.

Performs any other related tasks.

**SCOPE**

The work is performed under immediate supervision and according to detailed and precise instructions and guidelines. Any deviance in the work is controlled by a higher-ranking employee.

**REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE**

Education: Architecture studies at CÉGEP or University.

**Requirements**:

- Bilingual (French and English*);
- Computer skills;
- Have a valid driver’s licence and a vehicle.
- _Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town's citizens_

**QUALITIES**

Knowledge of
- By-laws, laws, regulations and orders regarding construction, demolition, zoning, signage, fire prevention, sanitation, lodging, ventilation and plumbing;
- Construction materials and techniques;
- Reading and interpreting plans;
- Usual inspection methods.

**Skills**:

- Observing and collecting information;
- Acting tactfully and politely;
- Oral communication.
