- Requires a secondary school diploma.
- Current BCLS certification preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Patient Portering role required.
- Thorough knowledge of hospital layout and department locations required
- Satisfactory attendance.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)**
- Safe transportation of patients to and from various areas within the hospital at both Chatham campuses.
- Assisting to transition patients to a safer surface (i.e. from wheelchair to chair or bed) when appropriate.
- transportation of medical and surgical supplies, equipment, specimens, requisitions, reports and other miscellaneous items.
- Pick up and delivery x-rays, old charts and other patient care information to and from assigned areas.
- Participates on hospital committees as appropriate.
