**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Quality Control Laboratory Manager, the Hybrid Laboratory Technician will use chemistry principles, microbiology assays, analytical technology, and sensory evaluation to deliver improvement within quality control and plant production laboratories.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Analyze pea samples (raw, in-process, and finished products) using Standard Operating Procedures and perform microbiology testing on pea products to meet Roquette’s product specifications.
- Perform all microbial analysis for the finished product and environmental pathogen monitoring.
- Perform metrological monitoring of laboratory equipment/instruments and monitor the quality control and sensory laboratories in orderly and workable conditions.
- Receive, log in and prepare, distribute and/or retain all incoming samples for analytical microbiological testing, stability, and sensory testing.
- Prepare and send samples to external laboratories and perform analysis on inter-laboratory samples as assigned.
- Perform and participate in sensory evaluation on finished product.
- Perform verification and calibration on quality control and workshop laboratory equipment and perform first-level maintenance on laboratory equipment (Elementar, Brabender, Spectrophotometer, PH meters, etc.).
- Participate in laboratory audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Agriculture, or Microbiology or a Technical diploma coupled with 3-5 years of laboratory experience in the food or related industry
- 2 - 3 years of experience working in a laboratory and performing physical chemical analysis
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience with laboratory equipment
- Familiar with using several laboratory equipment/instruments, as well as knowing their calibrations and validations
- Able to operate various instrumental methods of analysis.
- Working knowledge of laboratory data acquisition systems such as SAP, and LIMS.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to work individually or with a team displaying strong verbal and written communication skills.
