Janitor/cleaner

We are hiring Janitors for one of our clients in **Scarborough**. Our Client is specialized in the domestic manufacture of nuts, bolts and screws. The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the manufacturing facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a safe and productive work environment for all employees.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitization:

- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to maintain a clean working environment.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas.
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to maintain a tidy appearance.

Facility Maintenance:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and replacing restroom supplies.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events or production needs.

Safety Compliance:

- Comply with all safety protocols and guidelines while performing duties.
- Ensure the proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and materials.
- Identify and promptly address potential safety hazards within the facility.

Recycling and Sustainability:

- Support the company's recycling and sustainability initiatives by sorting and disposing of recyclable materials appropriately.

Inventory Management:

- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and communicate supply needs to the supervisor.

Team Collaboration:

- Collaborate with other maintenance and production staff to ensure a cohesive and efficient work environment.
- Assist in maintaining a positive and cooperative team atmosphere.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Shift Timing: 8 am to 4 pm

Pay rate: $19.

Location: Markham
