**About Us**
- Camp Connections is a cultural and adventure-based summer camp program open to children and youth involved with social services (between ages 7-18) from across the NWT. Camp Connections has been an ongoing project of the Foster Family Coalition of the NWT since 2003.

- Camp Connections seeks an experienced, dynamic and motivated individual to fill a seasonal full-time position as the _Camp Cook _between June 5, 2023, and August 15, 2023. The Camp Cook is responsible for engaging with campers and for all meals and snacks. The Camp Cook will always work cooperatively and effectively with all FFC-NWT staff and volunteers.

**Responsibilities**

**Pre-Camp**:

- Participate in all staff training.
- Assist in camp preparation and organization.
- Prepare a healthy and diverse food menu.
- Anticipate camper involvement in preparation and cooking, or plan food-based activities.

**During Camp**:

- Ensure food order and inventory is prepared accurately and on time.
- Manage kitchen inventory.
- Ensure meals are prepared on time and that there is always extra food (no kids should leave the cookhouse hungry).
- Ensure snacks are prepared on time every morning, afternoon, and evening (routine is so important)
- Keep the water tank filled, and ensure there is purified water for campers at all times.
- Monitor propane supply.
- Ensure the camp kitchen is kept orderly and as safe as possible.
- Be involved in camp activities and special events.
- Work with staff to ensure the camp cookhouse is a quiet and orderly place.
- Make sure campfires are started, or prepped to be started for evening activities.
- Provide one on one support to campers in need as required.
- Ensure towels and wash clothes are cleaned.

**Education & Experience**
- Experience working with children with various needs.
- Knowledge of northern cultures.
- Enthusiasm and desire to work with children and positively impact their lives.
- Summer camp experiences are an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate and work with others.

**Transferable Skills**
- Understanding of youth experiences.
- Emotional intelligence including self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, empathy and social skills.
- Communication skills including written, verbal, presentation, active listening, respect, confidence, clarity, and honesty.
- Work independently while collaborating well with others.

**Prerequisites**
- Fluency in English (comprehension, verbal & written)
- 19 years of age (required)
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: $1,120.00 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Yellowknife, NT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: One location
