**Job Description**:
This position will be responsible for maintaining and administering the Enerkem’s Environment, Health and Safety programs, as well as maintaining records in compliance with corporate requirements and regulatory agencies.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Daily inspection of the work site with approximately 40% of time spent in the field and approximately 60% of time in the field offices, talking with crews, coaching employees and providing solutions for EH&S specific items.
- Industrial experience in critical elements such as Exposure Monitoring, Waste removal and Emergency Response, specifically Incident Command System (ICS).
- Assist in the development of programs, policies, safe work practices s and circulate rules and regulations governing the workplace, including periodic compliance, risk audits and pre-start-up safety review (PSSR)
- Report to the HSE Manager any deficiencies or hazards that need to be addressed.
- Provide orientation to new employees in regard to EH&S, prevention strategies, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting of incidents, identification of hazards and emergencies processes, among others.
- Provide on-going technical guidance, mentor ship and direction to front line staff to ensure that risks are mitigated to an acceptable level.
- Attend meetings such as daily toolbox meetings, progress meetings, internal safety team and cross-functional team meetings and external client meetings.
- Participate in Hazard/Risk Assessments and the site Joint Workplace Health, Safety Committee meetings. Play an active role in these committees. Ensure workers have a thorough knowledge of the potential hazards on site and takes the precautions necessary to guard against them.
- Evaluate the EHS performance and provide guidance on trends, corrective actions and loss rates.
- Ensure subcontractors are in compliance with company policies, practices, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Checks and ensures the validity of training and certifications of employees performing regulated tasks
- Develops and plans training activities to teach proper working methods
- Acts as an agent of change to develop and sustain a dominant HSE culture.
- Addresses risky situations/behaviors without delay
- Performs all other related tasks

**Qualifications**:

- Ten plus years of Industrial or Chemical experience required.
- Credentials relating to Health and Safety (NCSO, OH&S Certificate, CRSP, etc.).
- Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response or Environmental experience considered an asset.
- Experience with WCB claims management considered an asset.
- Operations or Maintenance experience in a chemical plant considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, consultative, communication and leadership skills.
- Disciplined, process orientated approach with a continuous improvement mindset a must.
- CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) is required.
