Managing Counsel

**What is the opportunity?**:
In this position as Managing Counsel, Global Asset Management, you will be a key contact in providing complex legal advice in respect of asset management.

**What will you do?**:

- Provide primary support to the GAM institutional business through drafting and negotiating investment management agreements, in addition to a range of other commercial agreements.
- Play a key role in advising the business on the structuring and offering of, and documentation relating to, publicly
- and privately-offered investment funds, including alternative mutual funds.
- Work closely with the GAM Trade Desk in connection with onboarding new brokers and vendors; appointing sub-custodians to support the funds’ investments in jurisdictions across the world; and providing derivatives support, including amending ISDAs.
- Be a key contact to our Compliance partners, assisting with inquiries related to investment restrictions, lock-up agreements, among other matters.

**Must have**:

- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience gained in private practice, at a securities regulator or in-house roles.
- LLB, called to the Bar of a Canadian province, membership in applicable law society or bar association
- Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage contentious issues
- Ability to support strategies and influence senior executives and business partners
- This role requires leadership, excellent judgment and the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
