The Treasury department is responsible for all corporate accounting tasks. Corporate accounting at Questrade consists of many functions: audits, financial reporting, management reporting, financing, taxation, and regulatory reporting. The Treasury Department is a strategic partner supporting multiple business units, working closely with the trade desk, foreign exchange, operations, client services, and sales teams. And where does the Junior Analyst, Treasury fit into this?
The purpose of the Treasury Analyst is to provide support of Questrade’s Cash & Asset Management, Liquidity and Daily Forecasting.

What’s it like working as a Junior Analyst, Treasury at Questrade?
The Treasury Analyst will analyze all collateral requirements and provide detail reports for all accounts and ensure compliance to all documents and monitor all values and evaluate same. Prepares daily cash and liquidity management related activities, including required reports, metrics, and ad hoc cash and liquidity management analysis.

You will process incoming/outgoing client payment (bill payments, wires, etc.). You will respond the client cases and work with internal department to find a resolution. You will complete journal entries for daily funds movements. You will provide back up support to the banking team as required. You will perform bank reconciliation - reconciliation of the bank statement against the GL and reconciliation of any assigned clearing accounts. You will liaise on a regular basis with bank contacts. You will set up cash transfers and wires as required. You will assist with special projects. You will also complete other bookkeeping duties.

- Utilize treasury workstation to position cash forecasting, reconcile accounts, forecast, download bank balances and transactions
- Assess short-term investment opportunities to ensure that liquidity goals are met.
- Monitor and reconcile daily collateral requirements with various counterparties and clearing organizations. Update daily reporting requirements to support activity.
- Minimize Questrade’s risk by making required margin calls in accordance with the signed agreements.
- Verify that all manual adjustments are captured prior to margin call processing.
- Ensure that all margin calls are issued and responded to, meeting agreement deadlines.
- Confirm and process collateral movements in a timely manner.
- Research, reconcile and resolve margin call disputes with counterparties daily.
- Notify the Risk team and Management on outstanding margin call disputes.
- Work closely with Stock Lending, Securities Finance, and Back Office.
- Maintaining treasury procedure.
- Provide back up support to the banking team as required
- Assist with special projects
- Other bookkeeping duties
- Previous Collateral Management experience
- Necessary characteristics include: track record of mitigating operational risk, attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, customer service etiquette, strong communication skills (oral & written) sense of initiative.
- Must be able to work in a team
- Must be able to adhere to set deadlines
- Strong analytical and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to build Excel based solution (macros) to improve efficiencies/controls
- Collateral agreement (ISDA/Repo) knowledge a plus
- Completion of CSC and CPH is an asset
- Experiences in financial/investment industry is an asset
