**Job Description**:
***:Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Food & Nutrition Services, or designate, is responsible for the cleaning of equipment and Food & Nutrition Service areas and a variety of portering duties.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Washes and puts away pots, pans, dishes; cleans steam kettles, tilt fryers, grills, mixers, floors, work surfaces, and other Food & Nutrition Services equipment.
- Removes garbage, recycles as needed, and maintain cleanliness in disposal areas.
- Assembles and porters food.
- Cleans vegetables.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitary practices.
- Reports any equipment in need of repair and any safety hazards.
- Safely operates all equipment and handling of chemicals.
- Completes other cleaning as assigned.
- Performs the duties of the Food Service Worker, as required.
- Performs such other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Grade 10 education
- Successful completion of a food handler training program as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care; and
- Completion of or enrolment in a food services worker training program approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
- Experience in food service preferred

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary
- Demonstrated ability to practice good lifting and safety and sanitation techniques
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:

- **Lift** constantly 5 - 25 lbs. from floor to waist to chest height; up to 20 lbs occasionally from floor to a height of approximately 12 inches; up to 30 lbs. occasionally at waist height
- ** Carry** constantly from 1 - 20 lbs. a distance of 1 - 100 ft; up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- ** Push/pull** frequently up to 5 lbs. a distance of 1 - 100 ft; up to 10 lbs. frequently a distance of 3 ft. at bench height; up to 20 lbs occasionally a distance of 1000 ft
- ** Standing and walking** are required on a constant basis
- ** Stooping** is required on a constant basis
- ** Reaching** is constant in all planes
- ** Squatting/kneeling** is required on a frequent basis

**Occasional** = up to 33% of working day; **Frequent** = 34-66% of working day; **Constant** = 67-100% of working day

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must remain enrolled in and successfully complete the food service worker training program within three years of being hired
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
- Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
- Must pass work fitness test
- Must successfully undergo a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Must be available to work shift work, including holidays and weekends
- Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
- Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Process
- Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
