**Temporary Full Time Position** (3 months) with possible extension.**

**The Opportunity**

Join us as a leader driven to enhance our Recreation department with a focus on our person-centered approach. In this role you will lead a team to encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that are both familiar and new which provide overall well-being and quality of life.

**Your responsibilities include**:

- Plan, organize, and execute engaging, meaningful recreation programs to meet the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents
- Manage activity budgets and ensure resources are used effectively
- Coordinate with vendors and entertainers for special events
- Effectively manage staff and volunteers, providing coaching, training, and performance monitoring as needed
- Collaborate with residents to tailor activities to their interests and abilities
- Supporting residents’ autonomy and advocacy by promoting residents’ council and attending meetings as required
- Ensuring the integration of all departments into programming for optimal service
- Participate in budget preparation and is accountable for maintaining departmental budgets, orders and maintain department supplies.
- Create and distribute a promotional newsletter and calendar of programs to engage residents and resident families

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university.
- Experience in long term care in developing/ leading programs for residents with varied physical and cognitive ability.
- Experience with PCC and Activity pro would be considered as an asset.
- Understanding and promoting the Residents Bill of Rights.
- Knowledge of community resources within the service area and able to relate to them in a professional manner.
- Commitment to ongoing education to meet resident’s needs and legislative requirements.
- Must have strong computer skills and knowledge with technology in programming for virtual or remote communications such as Zoom, Skype, Facetime, using different devices.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months)

**Schedule**:

- Day Shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends and Evenings as needed
