Canadian Blood Services is looking for a **Regular part-time** **Laboratory Assistant **to join our dynamic **Distribution **team in **Winnipeg**. The work of Laboratory Assistants is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as **Canada’s Lifeline.** In this role you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the distribution of blood components that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians.

**Formula for success**
- Receiving and storing blood and plasma protein products and maintaining stock of distribution supplies in accordance with all Canadian Blood Services’ Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices.
- Ensuring safety of blood components through an ongoing monitoring of product and product storage equipment (temperature etc.) as well as performing recalls and removing outdated products.
- Receives orders, selects, and issues blood and related products to our customers such as hospitals, and other blood centers, and communicating with the hospital team about orders placed, as required.
- Batching and packing orders by priority and time of delivery to ensure compliance within established parameters for time and temperature limits during transit.
- Prepare, produce and/or modify all blood components as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance of equipment used in the laboratory.
- Assist in the release labelling process of blood components.
- Maintain safe work practices.

**Desired education and skills**
- Grade 12 and 1 year laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination, BSc or College diploma would be considered an asset.
- Computer literacy.
- Previous related experience in a laboratory or similarly regulated environment, including knowledge of general laboratory policies and procedures, medical terminology and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Strong multi-tasking skills, work ethic and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to prioritize the workload.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn required technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision.
