Heavy-duty mechanical expertise supports West Vancouver municipal vehicles and equipment in this permanent, full-time journeyman-level mechanic position. Work occurs in the shop or field.
The West Vancouver Engineering & Transportation Department seeks a mechanic for automotive and heavy-duty mechanical work. Duties include troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, hydraulic systems, welding, inspections, and records. The role may also involve supervising employees completing less skilled mechanical tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot municipal vehicles and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Inspect and repair hydraulic systems
- Complete gas and electrical welding tasks
- Submit maintenance records and required reports
Requirements:
- Grade 12 graduation and technical mechanical courses
- Recognized apprenticeship completion or fourth-year apprentice status
- Automotive, heavy-duty, or commercial transport certification
- British Columbia Class 3 licence with Air Brake endorsement
- Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Inspection Certificate
