Advance your agricultural career at Arkell Poultry & Equine Research Stations as a Livestock Agricultural Assistant. Oversee poultry and equine management while supporting vital research initiatives. Reporting directly to the Research Facility Foreperson, the Livestock Agricultural Assistant combines advanced knowledge with hands-on experience in daily care and management of poultry and equine. You will manage health observations, breeding, data protocols, and uphold strict biosecurity standards. This role is pivotal in executing precise data collection for critical research projects and maintaining operational safety in Arkell, Ontario. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage poultry categories across multiple facilities
  • Oversee a herd of 50–80 horses and ponies
  • Operate farm equipment including tractors and skid steers
  • Maintain detailed computerized animal health records
  • Ensure facility sanitation and hygiene compliance
Requirements:
  • 2-year Associate Diploma in Agriculture plus 1 year experience
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license
  • First Aid/CPR and forklift certifications preferred
  • Willingness to obtain rabies vaccination
  • Strong computer and communication skills
