Apply molecular biology and specimen-handling skills as a Genetics Lab Technician with LifeLabs. Work Monday to Friday on a temporary full-time contract.
This Genetics Lab Technician supports office management, kit inventory, specimen handling, primary processing, and sample referrals. The position maintains efficient pre-analytic workflows and quality processes supporting operational testing standards. You will perform medical genetic procedures, molecular applications, and related data entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform medical genetic procedures according to laboratory procedures
- Process testing requests, complete data entry, and follow up
- Handle, prioritize, and prepare specimens for testing
- Extract nucleic acids and perform instrument maintenance and quality control
- Report unresolved problems to senior technologists or supervisors
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in molecular biology preferred
- Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma desired
- Clinical or molecular genetics laboratory experience
- Experience with DNA extraction, micropipetting, and PCR setup
- Complex data entry, sample processing, and computer skills
