This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on production-grade backend applications and scalable distributed systems. You will create APIs and microservices supporting Authentication as a Service, extending eBay’s capabilities toward Depop and additional marketplaces. Your work includes architecture, implementation, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Java and Spring Boot backend services and REST APIsDesign scalable microservices and distributed system architecturesBuild asynchronous workflows with Google Pub/Sub or KafkaContribute decisions on scalability, security, and fault toleranceOwn services through design, deployment, and troubleshootingRequirements:
Six or more years building production-grade softwareStrong Java experience or willingness to develop in JavaBackend development experience with RESTful APIs and microservicesUnderstanding of event-driven and asynchronous architecturesStrong problem-solving and independent technical ownership skillsUse Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven design to shape eBay’s reusable authentication services.
