Role Summary

The Parallax Cloud team is focused on delivering a highly performant, scalable, and globally distributed zero‑downtime platform that underpins vehicle, mobile, and cloud service communications.

In this role, you will architect, implement, and operate key cloud platform services powering real‑time connectivity across global products. Your work will focus on scaling low‑latency messaging, engineering resilient APIs, and ensuring end‑to‑end operational visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, construct, and maintain foundational cloud services and platform solutions that power low‑latency, real‑time messaging and APIs worldwide.

  • Take ownership of high‑throughput messaging systems (such as NATS ): oversee upgrades, validate performance, perform capacity planning, and implement comprehensive observability including dashboards and alerts.

  • Design and support gRPC/Protobuf APIs alongside client integrations, streamlining communication between services and from clients to the cloud with robust telemetry.

  • Lead infrastructure automation and deployment workflows using Kubernetes , ArgoCD , and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Crossplane or Terraform) across development, staging, and production environments.

  • Build production‑grade monitoring using Datadog dashboards and alerting, utilizing Prometheus/Grafana as needed for tracking metrics and SLOs.

  • Configure and optimize reverse proxies and API gateways (such as NGINX or Envoy) to ensure reliable, secure ingress and routing at scale.

  • Oversee PKI/certificate pipelines and service identities to guarantee secure authentication and transport across multi‑environment deployments.

  • Develop and execute E2E , integration , and scaling test pipelines to verify performance, functionality, and prevent regressions prior to production release.

  • Advance multi‑region reliability, optimize cost and performance, and support expanding multi‑tenant capabilities as the platform grows across new programs and brands.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, high‑scale backend services, or streaming and messaging platforms.

  • Strong proficiency in Go , Java , or TypeScript , alongside solid foundations in API design, networking, and concurrency.

  • Practical experience managing production services with strong observability practices (traces, logs, metrics) and participating in on‑call rotations.

  • Working knowledge of AWS (Azure/GCP) , Kubernetes , ArgoCD , and Infrastructure as Code solutions (e.g., Crossplane or Terraform).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on expertise with high‑throughput messaging systems (e.g., NATS , Kafka, MQTT), gRPC , and designing multi‑region/multi‑tenant architectures.

  • Familiarity with API gateways (NGINX/Envoy) and implementing secure transport and authentication patterns.

  • Track record of maintaining or making contributions to high‑impact open‑source software.
