This role is a permanent full-time position in our Calgary office but could be flexible on the location. What does a typical day look like for our Electrical Engineers? Senior/ Intermediate Airfield Electrical Engineers at Avia NG are the central hub and manage projects from start to finish. Your day may start in one of our Canadian offices, however our Senior/ Intermediate Airfield Electrical Engineer travels to various sites within Canada and the Caribbean to conduct business as well. Specific tasks include: Preparing and overseeing the planning, design and construction management of airfield electrical and airport groundside infrastructure. Preparation of proposals. Business development including attendance at conferences and tradeshows. Site reviews and inspections Undertake research activities to identify and develop potential solutions to design challenges associated with airfield facility design/construction. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current Transport Canada, ICAO, FAA and related standards and recommended practices. Enhance knowledge of requirements of reviewing agencies such as NAV CANADA, Transport Canada, Municipalities, etc. Project management and contract administration Provide QA/QC for in-progress and completed designs. Mentor junior staff. What do we need from you? Our best fit for this role would be a self-starter who has experience in airfield electrical engineering and is known for seeing ahead of the curve, getting in front of problems before they arise. Responsibilities: Lead development of airfield lighting design documentation in compliance with TP312 standards. Project management through the design, tender, and construction life cycle, including both electrical only and civil/electrical airfield projects. Prepare condition assessments, technical reports, cost estimates, design drawings, technical specifications, and tender documentation. Provide direction and coordination to CAD technologists during drawing production. Construction management including site inspections to ensure design compliance and quality control. Project management and contract administration duties for infrastructure projects including but not limited to the preparation of budget/schedule updates, progress payment certificates, shop drawing review, site instructions, change orders, commissioning inspections, etc. Interact directly with clients on project specifics. Lead and mentor junior staff, providing technical and professional guidance. Qualifications: Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (or ability to obtain license) with a minimum of five (5) years of directly relevant experience. Demonstrated background in electrical design and project management within the airport sector. In-depth knowledge of TP312 standards related to airfield lighting systems. Strong communication, report writing, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
