COMPANY OVERVIEW
50,000 athletes. 30+ locations. Millions of views.
BRL Studio® is the in-house creative agency for Brodie Rec. League, supporting a rapidly growing sports brand operating across 30+ North American cities and serving more than 50,000 athletes.
Brodie League is more than a basketball league, it’s a community. As one of North America’s fastest-growing sports brands, Brodie League is redefining adult recreational basketball by delivering an elevated, professional-quality experience rooted in culture, competition, and community. Our mission is to make every league night the best night of the week for our athletes.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Every week, Brodie has videographers, photographers and Athlete Highlight Specialists shooting in gyms across 30+ venues. We spend real money on that capture, and right now nobody runs it. There is no weekly shot list, no standard for what good looks like on a game night, no system for where the best clips go, and no one deciding what all of it points at. The best moment of the season can happen on a Tuesday in Seattle and we find out two weeks later.
The Head of Content fixes that. This is the execution and operations leader for everything Brodie captures and publishes from its venues: the weekly shot list in every market, the standard every shooter is held to, the pipeline from gym floor to feed, and the posting cadence on the national, athlete and location accounts. You take the creative vision our Executive Creative Director sets and turn it into a system that runs in cities autonomously. Then you work with our Sr. Director of Growth to ensure it translates to retained athletes, season over season.
The reason this matters; retention. Being seen is part of what people pay for. Your job is to make it a 10, for every athlete, every week, in every location, and to build the system so it still works at twice the size.
You are not holding the camera and you are not doing this alone. Brodie has a Creative Director for film and content, a Senior Photographer, a Senior Producer, a bench of shooters in every market and a designer to brief. You will manage a small content team directly and be the person who decides what all of that capacity points at, holds the standard, and makes sure it ships on time, every week, everywhere.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
In-venue capture system (primary focus)
Decide what gets shot before deciding what gets posted.
Publish a weekly shot list for every market, every week of the season, and hold shooters to it
Set and document the capture standard for videographers, photographers and Athlete Highlight Specialists: what to shoot, how to shoot it (iPhone-first, settings, framing, the story of the night), where it goes and by when
Build the pipeline from gym floor to published post: ingest, selects, edit, approve, publish. Turn hundreds of weekly raw clips into a working library, not a folder nobody opens
Build the onboarding and training system that gets a new shooter in a new city to Brodie standard without anyone from HQ getting on a plane
Review output by market weekly. Coach shooters who are close, give more responsibility to the ones who are great, and recommend replacing the ones who are not, working through the League Manager who runs them day to day
Hold League Managers and Operations accountable for the content coming out of their venues, and make capture a staffed, expected part of every game night
Athlete content, storytelling and retention
Every athlete should see themselves in Brodie’s content.
Run the “Brodie Moment” system: every new athlete and every new team gets a photo or clip in their first week, and every athlete gets featured across a season
Make sure athletes can find, download and share their own clips and highlights, and work with Product on the portal that delivers them
Build the athlete, captain, team
