Overview Microsoft 365 (M365) Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) is the platform that powers billions of real-time customer conversations across Microsoft's communication products, such as Microsoft Teams and Azure Communication Service. As a Senior Software Engineer on the IC3 Standardization Team, you will work on systems that allow our partner teams across IC3 to observe and monitor behaviour of their services, rapidly detect incidents and abnormalities, all with a goal of keeping mission critical software running as smoothly as possible, while reducing engineering toil necessary to ensure this vision. You will work on monitoring and observability tooling for modern dotnet services, designing, implementing and driving adoption for SDKs that are used across the entire IC3 organization. You will become a domain expert in observability-as-code, telemetry and logging systems, and lean into cutting edge AI tooling to accelerate adoption of best practices. Responsibilities - Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario. - Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. - Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). - Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items. - Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation. - Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor product feature for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and drives best practices to improve the reliability, observability, and performance of the product. - Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python - OR equivalent experience. - 4+ years of web services experience in either .NET, Java, Django or similar technologies. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: - Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python - OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python - OR equivalent experience. - 4+ years of web services experience in either .NET, Java, Django or similar technologies. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $114,400 - CAD $203,900 per year.
