We are posting this job on behalf of a charitable organization in Waterloo Region that is dedicated to supporting newcomers and refugees to Canada. This organization is creating a social enterprise to offer Immigration Consulting services to the broader public, with a focus on transparency and trustworthy, affordable fees for those who need it most, and partnership with the non-profit and business sectors.
The charitable organization is hiring a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) for a six-month contract (37.5 hours per week) between $30-$40 per hour, commensurate with experience. There is the potential for renewal to a permanent employment position based on performance outcomes.
Deliver professional, empathetic, and ethical immigration consulting services to individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Prepare, review, and submit immigration applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) regulations.
Manage client cases from start to finish, tracking progress, following up on pending applications, and responding to government inquiries.
Represent clients in immigration matters, liaising with government agencies, employers, and legal professionals as needed.
Submissions for study permits, work permits, Express Entry, PNP, and other programs are error-free and timely, increasing approval rates for our clients.
Clients receive clear, transparent, and professional guidance throughout the immigration process, resulting in positive reviews and referrals.
Conduct in-depth consultations to assess client eligibility for immigration programs, including Express Entry, PNP, study permits, and work permits.
Prepare, review, and submit immigration applications while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IRCC regulations.
Stay updated on Canadian immigration laws, policies, and regulatory changes to provide accurate guidance and risk mitigation.
Liaise with government agencies, employers, recruiters, and legal professionals to facilitate immigration processes and advocate for clients.
Identify potential clients, conduct consultations, and implement strategies to attract and retain immigration applicants.
Promote immigration services through social media, webinars, and partnerships with community organizations to enhance client outreach.
Maintain strict confidentiality, follow ethical standards, and continuously improve expertise through professional training and development.
Record and maintain necessary daily log, statistics or data as required.
Assist with advocacy, public engagement, education, meetings, and community presentations.
2+ years of experience in Canadian immigration consulting, ideally with exposure to work permits, study permits, express entry, and LMIA processes.
~ Some knowledge of the refugee claim process in Canada.
~ Moderate level of knowledge of social/settlement services in Waterloo Region, Guelph, and surrounding communities as well as some knowledge of relevant services on a provincial and national level.
~ High level of communication skills, written and verbal, in both in-person and virtual contexts.
~ Ability to be present with empathy as the parent organization represents a diversity of worldviews, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and religious affiliations.
~ LANGUAGE
Primary fluency or bilingual professional proficiency in English is a requirement.
Preference will be given to those with a proficiency in one or more of the following second languages: French, Arabic, Spanish, Tigrinya, Punjabi/Hindi, Amharic, Turkish.
Experience working with interpreters is an asset; training will be provided.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
This is a full time position for 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday.
Contract Term: 6 months (37.Successful candidates must be available for occasional evening and weekend hours to support clients and/or attend organizational events and activities.
