As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work daily in complex processing systems that route and authorize card transactions. You will shape designs, mentor engineers, and guide technical direction while strengthening performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. The role requires expertise in Java, concurrency, performance, and reliable systems at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Write and review production code across routing and processing systemsLead initiatives improving platform speed, reliability, and cost efficiencyShape data models, degradation strategies, and blast-radius containmentRaise engineering standards across mission-critical codebasesMentor engineers and guide technical direction at Staff levelRequirements:
Eight or more years of engineering experienceExpert Java skills with concurrency and performance fundamentalsExperience designing systems and operating them in productionBackground in regulated, cloud-native, high-availability environmentsPayment processing, card issuing, or network integration experienceApply Staff Java expertise to reliable payment processing, card networks, and real-time infrastructure at Marqeta.
