Laboratory Medicine Program, Specimen Management

- $37.26 per hour. Shifts: All Shifts 24/7 Permanent Full Time The successful candidates will support Laboratory Medicine by performing ECG, Venipuncture on inpatients/outpatients as well as Specimen Management duties. With over 30 million tests per year and 1,300 outpatients served daily, we are at the forefront of pathology and clinical testing. Join our dynamic team of 700 dedicated staff and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of laboratory medicine. The division of Specimen Management specializes in specimen procurement and processing for all UHN sites. As a valued member of Team LMP, you will play a key role in providing high quality preanalytical services to clinical, laboratory, and research professionals. Manipulate and process specimens as per laboratory protocols Operate laboratory equipment Use hospital information systems to access and document procedures Participates in training of staff Maintain safe working environment and comply with IPAC Graduate of a post-secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program, or recognized equivalent Minimum one (1) year related work experience in a laboratory setting Minimum one (1) year recent work experience in, venipuncture, ECG and specimen management Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory equipment maintenance and operation Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in a laboratory Computer literate in Windows based applications Government organization and a member of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP A flexible work environment Additional perks (multiple corporate discounts including: travel, restaurants, parking, phone plans, auto insurance discounts, on-site gyms, etc.) At University Health Network (UHN), artificial intelligence technologies may be used to assist in the screening, assessment, and selection of candidates for this position.
