The Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Creating and reviewing I/O list and assignments, instrument wiring drawings and loop diagrams and instrument UPS load requirements lists Preparing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for field instruments and control systems Designing DCS, SIS/SDS/ESD and PLC control systems Preparing control narrative and philosophy Designing Control systems, fiber optic panels and termination drawings Designing control system/ network architectures Preparing engineering work packages Reviewing instrument location drawings and wiring drawings Providing technical support to vendors for DCS/SIS/FG panels design and fabrication, and mechanical/electrical equipment Developing the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unit Providing comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements Participating in the design of component parts and individual units Exercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management Supervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process units Providing technical guidance to junior staff Maintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements Applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks Adhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS) Assigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy Providing construction support Authenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel Eng. registration with APEGA (Preferred) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits Eight years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industry Working with Vista is a chance to contribute to the type of challenging municipal and industrial projects that the world requires.
