Support Calgary Opera productions in Calgary with technical theatre, lighting, video projection, and audio skills. The position offers a rotating weekly schedule.
Reporting to the Director of Production and supervised by the Technical Director, the Production Assistant supports varied Calgary Opera activities. Duties span production, administration, maintenance, facilities, education, outreach, and events. The work includes rehearsals, performances, rentals, and the Arrata Opera Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support summer festival and Main Stage productions
- Set up, support, and strike rehearsals and events
- Serve as primary Arrata Opera Centre site contact
- Assist with lighting, sound, video, and stage equipment
- Complete administrative, maintenance, and janitorial tasks
Requirements:
- Technical Theatre Diploma from a recognized institution
- Technical theatre community work experience
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- Self-motivated and strongly organized
- Ability to work unsupervised and flexible schedules
Bring technical theatre experience and organized equipment support to Calgary Opera’s productions, rehearsals, events, and Arrata Opera Centre operations.
