*ʔAKISK'NUK TEAM LEADER**1 Year Contract, Full-Time Position**Windermere, BC**Who We Are: *Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Delegated Aboriginal Agency governed by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Board. KKCFSS is available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory. This is a multi-faceted role working from a family based model in which innovation, flexibility and responsiveness are needed to adapt to changing client needs, new strategies, opportunities and initiatives. The Team Leader is both privileged and empowered to significantly influence and change the future of the Ktunaxa Nation and other aboriginal people through proactive, responsive action that supports, heals, develops and protects human capacity, most particularly children and families. This position preserves the connection to family, community and culture by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children including the utilization of delegation authority when necessary. *Contribution: *To contribute to rewriting traditional outcomes for aboriginal people is the desired outcome, an outcome in which children can be safe within the context of their own family and community and where the communities are strong and healthy enough to self-sustain their own well-being. *In the Role as ʔakisq'nuk Team Leader, You Will:*· Direct supervision of multiple positions. This includes mentoring, training, coaching, supporting, conflict resolution, motivating, providing direction, assigning tasks, performance valuation, leave management, professional development. · Recommend the recruitment / selection of staff. · Prepare annual work plans, monitor and adjust for effectiveness. · Manage delegated services under the Province of British Columbia Child Welfare legislation; including the services delegated under the Child, Family and Community Service Act. · Liaise with relevant organizations and services regarding on and off reserve child protection investigations involving members of these respective Nations. · Participate within leadership agency team on policies, strategies, decisions, risk assessments. *What You Will Bring to the Role:*· Undergraduate degree in Social Work or related field · Eligible for full delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act · Three to six (3-6) years of delegated social work experience · Experience leading and supervising Social Services professionals · Comprehensive knowledge of the CFCS Act with the ability to be creative in solutions · Understanding and supporting the Signs of Safety model · Experience working with families at risk · Sound knowledge of aboriginal issues both historical and current in British Columbia and Canada · Cross-culture training and sensitivity · Demonstrated success with empowering and building capacity among individuals and communities · Proven effectiveness as a community and organization role model · Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff as well as other inter-disciplinary partners in both the aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities · Commitment to the capacity of both the individual and the community to promote their own health and well-being · Excellent communication skills; written (proposal writing, work plans, court reports, incident reports, policies, staff valuations); and oral (presentations, training, facilitation of conflicts and investigations)· Experience maintaining the high levels of confidentiality that are particular to small communities · Self-direction and Flexibility · Willingness to work outside office hours to respond to child protection emergencies and other critical situations · An understanding of an appreciation for and a commitment to continue to learn Ktunaxa culture and values · A valid drivers' license and reliable vehicle available at work *Our Commitment to You:** Excellent compensation package. * Generous and flexible time off options unique to KKCFSS, promoting work life family balance. * Education and professional development opportunities. * Salary Range of $89,825 to $96,076. *Apply Now * Please submit your cover letter and resume to: *Human Resources**Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Services Society**7472 Mission Road**Cranbrook, BC V1C 7E5** * Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other First Nations ancestry.
