Become a Youth Support Worker with CVIMS, providing critical support to newcomer families in Nanaimo. This term contract role focuses on building family engagement and facilitating educational workshops. As part of the Settlement Program at CVIMS, the Youth & Family Support Worker will work closely with families, schools, and community agencies. With a focus on trauma-informed practices, you’ll help navigate barriers while promoting the development of children and youth. Collaborating with colleagues, you’ll address family needs and ensure successful settlement integration for clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Foster relationships with newcomer families for better engagement
- Assist families with accessing schools, health, and community services
- Organize workshops and family events reflecting cultural diversity
- Monitor and evaluate children’s progress and align strategies
- Collaborate with community partners and educators for support
- Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or related field
- Minimum 2 years in inclusive youth or family programming
- Understanding of the Canadian education system
- Training in trauma-informed care and child development
- Valid driver’s license and criminal record check
