Become a full-time Residential Care Worker at the Developmental Disabilities Association in Vancouver, BC. This vital role supports individuals with autism through compassionate care and community engagement. We are looking for a skilled support worker to assist a young adult man with Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will provide critical support focusing on emotional, social, and recreational needs, ensuring that he experiences dignity and choice in daily activities. Your expertise in sensory processing and communication strategies will be essential to foster an inclusive environment where he can thrive. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized care to a young adult with autism
- Engage in daily activities to promote social interaction
- Utilize adaptive communication systems for effective support
- Collect and document data related to behaviour and support
- Implement safety measures and sensory regulation techniques
- Degree or diploma related to developmental disabilities
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar environment
- Strong understanding of sensory processing needs
- Ability to lift and support individuals as needed
- Valid driver’s license and criminal record clearance
