Operations Manager – Waste Management About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of a high-volume waste management and recycling facility. This hands-on leadership role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations while supporting waste diversion and sustainability initiatives. The facility operates nearly 24/7 throughout the year, and this role will work closely with senior management to optimize operations, enhance productivity, and deliver excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of facility operations, including waste handling, recycling processes, and scale operations. Lead and mentor a team of up to 25 employees, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures. Plan, coordinate, and monitor preventative maintenance to maintain safe and efficient operations. Manage operational budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize the use of labor, equipment, and supplies. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational policies. Monitor quality control and operational performance metrics, identifying areas for continuous improvement. Address customer inquiries and complaints, maintaining high standards of service. Manage labor relations, including union interactions and front-line employee engagement. Prepare and submit regular operational, safety, and financial reports to senior management. Lead or participate in safety meetings to maintain a positive, productive work environment. Qualifications Post-secondary education in a relevant field with prior management experience. Proven experience leading operational teams and managing complex facility operations. Strong understanding of operational KPIs and performance management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels. Experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services is an asset. Operational financial management experience is a plus.
