Your Role as a Structural Engineering Graduate:

Choose your own adventure Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home at JLR. As a Structural Engineering Graduate, your role will include:

  • Working alongside structural engineers, technologists, and other discipline team members as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary project team.
  • Supporting the design, coordination, and delivery of underground and surface infrastructure projects for the mining and mineral processing market, from concept through completion.
  • Applying engineering fundamentals and design tools to structures at mine and industrial sites, including headframes, conveyor galleries, equipment access structures, equipment foundations, and other underground and surface infrastructure.
  • Assisting with structural condition assessments, feasibility studies, calculations, detailed design, and the preparation of drawings and models.
  • Learning to use relevant codes, standards, structural analysis software, BIM, and collaborative design technologies with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Collaborating with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams while developing clear and effective technical communication skills.
  • Participating in the preparation of proposals, reports, specifications, budget estimates, and other project deliverables.
  • Taking part in occasional site visits, field reviews, and inspection assignments at mine and industrial sites across northern Ontario.
  • Continuing to develop your technical knowledge through mentorship, formal training, and collaborative learning opportunities while demonstrating strong organization, observation, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
