The Senior Project Manager, ESPC is a senior leadership role responsible for delivering complex energy performance and infrastructure modernization projects.

The position serves as the single point of accountability for project execution, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and client requirements.

The role combines project leadership, financial oversight, technical expertise, stakeholder management, and team development.

Overview

The Senior Project Manager leads all phases of Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) projects, from project initiation and planning through construction, commissioning, turnover, and close-out. The individual coordinates multidisciplinary teams that may include engineers, consultants, subcontractors, commissioning specialists, and internal support personnel. Success requires balancing client expectations, technical requirements, commercial objectives, and operational performance. In addition to delivering projects, the position plays a strategic role in maintaining customer relationships, managing risk, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting future business opportunities through successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Developing project execution plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk management strategies.
  • Leading project teams and coordinating all project stakeholders.
  • Monitoring performance against safety, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
  • Resolving issues and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned reviews.

A primary expectation is the successful delivery of complex ESPC projects while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Client and Stakeholder Management

The position serves as the principal client contact throughout project execution.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, utilities, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Leading project meetings, presentations, and executive briefings.
  • Managing customer expectations and resolving concerns professionally.
  • Supporting long-term business growth through effective client engagement.

Strong communication and relationship management skills are critical to success.

Financial and Commercial Management

The Senior Project Manager has significant responsibility for project financial performance, including:

  • Budget development and forecasting.
  • Cash flow and revenue management.
