The Department of Highways and Public Works provides the necessary structure that makes life in Yukon possible. We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator II (HEOII) to join our Transportation team. This position is responsible to operate graders, tractor trailer and a variety of light and heavy equipment, supporting the construction and maintenance of highways, recreational roads, airstrips, and other facilities across Yukon. Join us and help keep these vital routes in top condition for safe public travel Experience operating various heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders or other equipment. Experience performing minor maintenance or servicing of equipment, including greasing, adjusting brakes, changing oil, filters, or air filters. Experience completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections or other safety procedures. Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered. The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment: Yukon Class 3 driver’s licence with air endorsement Yukon Class 1 driver’s licence with air endorsement (to be obtained within 6 months of hire), Pass TMB Competency assessment on heavy equipment (grader, loader, dump truck or tractor trailer).
