We’re recruiting of a highly experienced Project Manager with Commercial / Industrial Construction project management background.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Commercial / Industrial Construction to oversee the full lifecycle of construction projects from planning through to completion. This role requires a strong leader who can manage multiple stakeholders, drive project performance, and ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage full project plans including schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocation
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery, ensuring milestones and contractual obligations are met
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to maintain productivity and schedule adherence
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality, safety, and progress compliance
  • Prepare contracts, change orders, tender packages, and progress reporting

Cost & Financial Management

  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor costs and implement cost control and efficiency measures
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Work closely with Superintendents to optimize labour and equipment usage

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary client liaison, ensuring strong communication and satisfaction
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates and reporting
  • Resolve client issues promptly and professionally
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization

Contract Administration & Procurement

  • Lead contract negotiations and procurement activities
  • Manage contract changes, disputes, and risk mitigation
  • Ensure procurement aligns with schedule and budget requirements

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop and maintain master project schedules and critical path analysis
  • Implement contingency planning to mitigate delays
  • Ensure alignment between field operations and project timelines

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor Project Coordinators, Superintendents, and field teams
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous development
  • Conduct performance reviews and support skill development

Quality & Safety

  • Enforce quality assurance standards across all project phases
  • Conduct regular site inspections and deficiency management
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through audits, orientations, and toolbox talks

Technology & Systems

  • Utilize construction management software (e.g., Vista, MS Project, Bluebeam)
  • Drive adoption of digital tools to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process improvements to enhance delivery, cost efficiency, and client satisfaction
  • Support innovation and best practice implementation across projects

Post-Construction

  • Oversee project closeout and client handover
  • Manage warranty follow-up and post-project reviews

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive project management experience in construction
  • Strong proficiency with construction management software (Vista, MS Project, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Experience managing full project lifecycle in commercial or industrial construction
  • Strong knowledge of the Calgary construction market, with established subcontractor and client relationships
  • Currently working in Calgary with a general contractor
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager in construction
  • Proven experience delivering commercial or industrial projects in the $5M-$20M range
