Mould Engineer – Cubis Systems, CRHMeet the role you’ll play as a mould engineer in a global leader that designs, engineers, and manufactures network access products for infrastructure, utility and construction markets. Cubis Systems is part of the €27 billion CRH Group and operates from sites across the UK and Ireland, exporting to over 30 countries.Location: Stroke-on-Trent, ST8 7NL. The position is at the Tallington or Stoke site, with occasional travel to other sites or to China for FAT testing.Reports to: Process Engineering Manager.Role Overview: The Mould Engineer is responsible for design, development, testing and maintenance of moulds and tooling used in production. The role ensures moulds operate efficiently, reliably and meet quality standards while driving improvements in performance, cycle time and cost.Key AccountabilitiesOversee design of new moulds or modify existing ones in partnership with suppliers.Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mould construction.Prepare technical documentation including mould drawings, specifications and maintenance reports.Ensure all moulds meet company and industry quality standards.Support engineering to develop standard procedures and best practices for mould design and tooling introductions.Introduce new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and extend mould life.Manage tooling introduction project (NPI, Replacement & Optimisation) and control delivery within a stage‑gate process.Contribute to DIOPQ (Design, Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification) of tooling, including design qualification and other qualification gates.Provide SME advice to optimise yield, weight and cycle time during IQ/OQ/PQ on the shop floor.Manage key supplier relationships, including liaison with international toolmakers in China to review and refine designs.Provide SME advice on PPM activities and assist in resolving mould‑related issues such as wear, flashing, leakage or dimensional deviations.Work closely with quality team to address defects or non‑conformances.Associated ResponsibilitiesWork with suppliers, toolmakers and external vendors on mould fabrication and repairs, including tooling tender packs.Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams as subject‑matter expert in tool design.Contribute to training plans for production and maintenance teams on proper mould handling and care.Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.Experience and TrainingStrong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and use of PDM; mould flow simulation desirable.Understanding of materials science, machining processes and mould manufacturing methods, with a focus on injection and compression moulding best practices.Problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methods is desirable.High level of team ethos to work with procurement, suppliers, design engineering and operations.Essential CriteriaBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering or related field.3+ years’ experience in low‑pressure/high‑pressure injection moulding or compression moulding.Proven experience with thermoplastic/thermosetting tooling processes.Essential CompetenciesAccountability and action orientation.Business insight and effective communication.Collaboration and resourcefulness.Decision quality, innovation cultivation and nimble learning.Planning and aligning with business needs.How to ApplySend your application to recruitment@cubis-systems.com by Thursday 27th November 2025.Cubis Systems is an equal‑opportunity employer that values differences in our people.
