Actuarial Analyst III at TD Securities Pay: 93,100 - 130,000 CAD Work Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Hours: 35 Line Of Business: Data & Analytics Responsibilities Analyze results and propose changes to support the development of underwriting tactics. Assist in the optimization of underwriting processes, emphasizing straight-through processing. Support the creation of business cases for underwriting or product management initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement new insurance products and underwriting rules. Monitor and analyze product and underwriting performance and recommend improvements. Communicate with internal and external partners and stakeholders. Provide support on underwriting or product issues to business partners. Contribute to a culture of innovation to enhance underwriting capabilities and align with business goals. Promote effective risk management and control processes consistent with organizational risk appetite. Customer Direct, prepare, perform, and analyze actuarial research and audits and ensure risk mitigation and business growth objectives are aligned. Develop, calculate and checks policy values; profit studies, reserve programs, rate files, and procedures; and assists in preparing actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns. Develop appropriate monitoring reports for analyzing company underwriting and claims experience. Review and interpret the indications of standard actuarial techniques, and recognize situations that require modifications to normal procedures. Coordinate the preparation of documentation to support actuarial conclusions. Provide technical support for development of insurance plans and programs. Shareholder Develop and enhance functional procedures including review for actuarial soundness. Ensure maintenance of controls, policies and procedures for the actuarial function. Support implementation of best practices, risk mitigation, risk controls as well as process, policy and procedures for the actuarial function. Assist with organization’s financial structure, complete financial projections, and perform actuarial analysis. Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area. Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities. Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g., financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets). Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations. Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience. Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues. Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements. Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts. Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite. Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exists. Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day‑to‑day activities. Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices. Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships. Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce. Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally. Breadth & Depth Professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise in own domain / field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas. Acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others. Leads projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end‑to‑end processes or functional programs. Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders. Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate. Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels. Solves moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions. Generally reports to a Manager / Senior Manager. Experience & Education 5+ years of related experience. Generally working towards a Fellowship. More than five years of actuarial experience in Property & Casualty Insurance. Commercial insurance knowledge is considered beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Sciences or a related field. Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation obtained or in progress. Proficient in Excel. Interest and proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and R. Advanced analytical, decision-making, and problem‑solving abilities. Leadership qualities and strong teamwork skills. Client‑focused with solid organizational and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English; French language skills are advantageous.
